Nuclear Medicine: Practical Radiation Protection of Staff
Royal College of Radiologists
Course Information
You’ve Got Why should I take this course?, We’ve Got the Answers!
Radiation protection of staff from nuclear medicine procedures extends beyond the clinical imaging department. Radiopharmaceuticals are continually emitting ionising radiation and staff may be exposed before, during and after patient administration. This micro skills course from the Royal College of Radiologists explores the external, internal and contamination radiation hazards associated with radionuclides commonly found in nuclear medicine and gives practical ways to reduce staff exposure in keeping with the 'as low as reasonably practicable' (ALARP) principle.
